Mapperton House Wedding Stories

Mapperton House in Dorset effortlessly stands out with its historic elegance and luxurious charm. This stunning Jacobean manor house, surrounded by picturesque gardens and rolling countryside, has been featured in several films, including Far from the Madding Crowd and Emma. It truly captures the essence of a dream wedding location, combining cinematic grandeur with real-life romance.

We absolutely love photographing weddings at Mapperton House. The grandeur of its architecture paired with the intimacy of its garden spaces provides endless opportunities to create breathtaking images. The venue's blend of historical majesty and welcoming atmosphere makes it an exceptional backdrop for your special day. Every corner of Mapperton House offers a unique setting, whether it's the opulent rooms inside or the tranquil gardens outside.

Mapperton House offers a variety of spaces for your celebration. The elegant Orangery can accommodate up to 100 guests for your civil ceremony and wedding breakfast, while the beautiful Garden Pavilion can host up to 150 guests for your evening reception. For truly unique wedding photographs, we adore the Sunken Garden, an enchanting space that adds a touch of magic to any wedding album. With exclusive use of the indoor and outdoor areas, you have a myriad of picturesque spots to capture unforgettable moments. The Great Hall, with its intricate wood paneling, ornate ceilings, and stunning natural light, remains one of our favorite rooms to photograph in.

The bride's entrance via the grand staircase adds a touch of drama and elegance, creating incredible photo opportunities right from the start. Following the ceremony, guests can enjoy drinks and canapés in the beautifully manicured gardens or the tranquil Fountain Court. We love to whisk the newlyweds away for some relaxed and romantic portraits in the Sunken Garden, a hidden gem that never fails to impress.

After family photographs, guests are invited into the elegantly appointed marquee for the wedding breakfast, speeches, and cake cutting. This magnificent space, with its high ceilings and views of the stunning gardens, offers a luxurious setting for your celebrations. The Orangery, while not used for dining, serves as a beautiful backdrop for editorial wedding photographs with its exquisite design and natural light. Meanwhile, the Garden Pavilion is transformed into a lively party space, ready for an evening of dancing and joy. The transition from day to night at Mapperton House is seamless, ensuring your wedding flows effortlessly from one magical moment to the next.

Mapperton House is a magnificent wedding venue, perfect for couples looking for a location that shines in every season. Set within 15 acres of stunning grounds, this venue offers countless opportunities for capturing the essence of your special day. The beautifully landscaped gardens, with their charming terraces and serene water features, and the striking historical architecture provide a unique and enchanting backdrop for your wedding photographs. The Sunken Garden, in particular, offers a secluded, fairytale-like setting that is perfect for intimate moments.
