A Summer Wedding at Cantebury Cathedral & Marquee Reception

An iconic ceremony venue and relaxed, summer garden party made up two elements of the most perfect wedding of Danielle & James. They married at Cantebury Catherdral in June this year and held their marquee reception at Danielle’s parents’ home in the beautiful Kentish countryside.
Any wedding requires a lot of effort and planning but when Danielle and James decided to hold their wedding reception at Danielle’s parents’ home, the workload went up a notch! After mowing a giant field, perfecting the gardens, erecting a marquee and organising all finer details, the stage was set!
Our day started at Felder House and although Danielle and her bridesmaids were still at the hairdressers, we were made to feel extremely welcome by Danielle’s lovely parents who helped us locate the dress and details for us to photograph before the ladies arrived.

Here Come The Girls!

Tobiah left to go and see James and his groomsmen and soon Danielle arrived back home to continue getting ready. Having only met and chatted about the wedding day on Skype, it was so nice for both of us to meet this charming bride and groom for the first time on their wedding day.
Liberty, Danielle’s dear friend, did the bride’s make-up beautifully as well as Danielle’s mum. Very handy having such a lovely pal who happens to be a film and TV make-up artist!
Danielle’s 4 bridesmaids were busy getting into their dresses upstairs ahead of helping Danielle into her stunning Donatelle Godart gown from The Mews Bridal in Notting Hill. We loved the delicate detailing and lacework at the top of this elegant dress and Danielle looked unreal wearing it!
With everyone ready to go, Danielle in her wedding dresses and her best girls in their different shades of blue, it was time to head to the cathedral. Danielle’s dad was waiting for his daughter at the bottom of the staircase to see her in her wedding dress for the first time. After hugs and lots of blinking to fight back the tears, they and the bridesmaids ventured out into the sunshine to make their way to the ceremony.

Time to say ‘I Do’

Tobiah had stayed with James throughout the morning and captured the gents getting ready at the Duke William and enjoying a quick drink on the terrace. After greeting guests at The Old Buttermarket in the centre of Cantebury, James and his groomsmen headed to the cathedral to anticipate the arrival of the bride. Exciting times!
Laura travelled with the bridesmaids to the cathedral and Tobiah was ready and waiting when they arrived, followed by Danielle and her dad in the coolest vintage Jaguar wedding car.

Ceremony at Cantebury Cathedral

Underneath The Quire and Trinity Chapel of Cantebury Cathedral lies an intimate and unique space, The Crypt. Here is where the ceremony took place under the stone arches and surrounding fresco paintings. The ceremony featured readings from close friends and songs by the choristers of the cathedral. Needless to say, the acoustics in the crypt are magnificent and the singing from the choir boys sent a chill down everyone’s spine. With cheers and clapping from their guests, Danielle and James exited as husband and wife up to the cloister to greet their guests. Bathed in sunshine and with lots of enthusiastic hugs and squeezes from their family and friends, the new Mr and Mrs looked the epitome of happiness, the smiles never left their faces all day.
We spent a little time taking some family photographs before in the epic surroundings of the cathedral cloister before a few portraits of Danielle and James. The guests then left and headed to Felder House and we went on a little adventure to Goss Hall for some extra portraits of the bride and groom before meeting the guests at the garden reception.
The blue skies and open fields near Goss Hall provided the perfect setting for some laid back photographs and while we were having fun taking some photos amongst the crops, the guests were arriving back at Danielle’s parents’ home.

Three…Two…One…CONFETTI!

If there is such a thing as torrential confetti throwing, it happened here! After making their way through all of their guests, who were armed with handfuls of colourful petals, James and Danielle spent lots of time enjoying chatting with their guests, sampling the canapés and listening to the awesome playlists they curated (featuring Creedence Clearwater Revival!)

Sweet, Wonderful You

After dinner and speeches in the marquee, the sun began to set on what had been the most magical day. The new Mr & Mrs danced to Fleetwood Mac’s ‘You Make Loving Fun’ before their closest friends and family joined them on the dance floor. This is where we said goodbye, surrounded by the loveliest people singing their hearts out and dancing the night away.
Thank you James and Danielle for choosing us to capture your awesome wedding, we loved it.

Please enjoy the photos!
