It’s hard to even begin to describe the magnificent wedding of Claire and Michael, but I’ll try! After emigrating from Liverpool to North Yorkshire, that beautiful part of the world became their home with their little dog, Deacon, and it was the perfect setting for their wedding at Yorkshire Wedding Barn in Gilling.

The night before the wedding, we travelled up to the Scotch Corner. We love a road trip!  The following morning we went to spy out the venue and start capturing the day as it was unfolding.

The ladies were busy getting ready and the wonderful team from My Something Borrowed were dressing the barn. We bumped into Michael, the lovely groom who was setting up for the speeches. There was such a happy buzz about the place. We can certainly testify that Claire and Michael had put so much thought and planning into their wedding day, it was clear to see. They had also been such a delight in the lead up to the day that everyone – family, friends and suppliers alike – were all super excited for them.

Good Morning, Beautiful!

Claire has such an infectiously warm and lovely personality, it felt like we’d known her forever. In fact, we’d only met her and Michael once before when they made the trip to our place to discuss the final plans of the day. Even from that point we could tell it was going to be an amazing day! So when we arrived in the morning to a big hug and immediately being offered food and champagne, we knew we’d been right all along!

Claire’s generous bridesmaids, Mum and Groom-to-be had left a pile of presents for her to open on the wedding morning. It’s always best for this to happen before make-up in case of any unexpected tears!

Tobiah had headed across to the boys where there were more presents!

Meanwhile, Claire was in the make-up chair with the lovely Emma Brown. Emma did a brilliant job making up Claire, the bridesmaids and Julie, Mother of the Bride. There was such a happy team around all day including the hair stylists, Laura Graham and Karina Kavanagh – aka the Pincurl Queen! Our buddy, Tom of Tom Harrington Films was on board too which was awesome, such a lovely guy who is very talented too.

So after the morning whizzing by, an emotional Ged, the Father of the Bride, came up to the bridal suite to see his daughter in her dress and accompany her to the church. Claire had chosen a stunning Martina Liana wedding dress from Ava Rose Hamilton in Leeds. She looked so amazing that we think that contributed to the tears!

Time to Get Hitched!

Arriving at the church, everyone was seating and anticipating the arrival of the bride, even a little black cat had come to say hello as Claire arrived. Meeting her man at the top of the aisle, the ceremony began. Readings, hymns and Michael’s wonderful aunty subconsciously keeping everyone in time with her belting singing made up some highlights from the ceremony.

Alexandra The Violinist played some solo pieces while Claire and Michael made things official and signed the wedding register. Outside, the ushers were busy handing out confetti pops as all of the guests congratulated the newlyweds.

After confetti and a few relaxed portraits around the churchyard, we followed the rest of the guests to Yorkshire Wedding Barn.

Arriving at Yorkshire Wedding Barn

Champagne and canapés were in full flow thanks to the wonderful team at Hog and Apple, the sun was shining and spirits were high. The barn had been beautifully dressed and before the group photographs began we captured guests enjoying themselves; young and old and our bride and groom being hugged and congratulated by everyone around them.

Speeches, Dinner & Horse Racing!

After a few relaxed group photographs, it was time to be seated for dinner and for the highly anticipated speeches to begin!

We adore the speeches at weddings because no two are the same. We get little snippets into the lives of our couples from people that love them the most. We love the stories, the reactions to those stories, the tears and the laughter.

Following with a little entertainment from Simon Dorey, the guests enjoyed relaxing after the lovely food from Hog and Apple before it was was time to cut the cake.

The sun was sinking in the sky as we nipped outside with Claire, Michael and Tom for a few relaxed sunset portraits. These photos were definitely some of our favourites from the day, we definitely had the weather on our side too! It was the perfect summer evening.

Let Them Eat Cake!

Cake cutting time! The last formality before it’s time to party. And what a party it was. A wonderful first dance, packed dance floor and two of the nicest people taking in all of the love and soaking up the last precious moments of their wedding day.

We had such a blast with Claire and Michael, honestly, we have the best job in the world. We hope you enjoy the photos!
