WE LOVE TO START DOCUMENTING YOUR WEDDING STORY WITH THE EXCITEMENT & FUN OF THE GIRLS GETTING READY ON THE MORNING OF WEDDING. THE JOY, THE EMOTIONS, THE TEARS AND of course, THE CHAMPAGNE!
In this gallery we share some of our favourite wedding ceremony moments, from just before, to just after the wedding ceremony.
This gallery features grooms looking nervous, brides making their grand entrance and lots of emotion! These wedding photographs are taken in churches and many wedding venues around Cheshire, Manchester and the rest of the UK.
Let the celebrations begin!
After the wedding ceremony we love to photograph you enjoying the day with your friends and family! When you look back at your wedding day, this is how it should be remembered.
This is a collection of our documentary or reportage wedding photography.
WE LOVE TO GET CREATIVE!
IN THIS GALLERY WE SHARE SOME OF OUR FAVOURITE WEDDING PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHS.
WE DON’T LET PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHS DOMINATE THE DAY HOWEVER WE FEEL IT'S NICE TO SET A LITTLE TIME ASIDE TO SPEND TOGETHER ON YOUR WEDDING DAY. WE LIKE TO TAKE RELAXED NATURAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHS, SO WE DON’T LIKE TO POSE THE BRIDE AND GROOM TOO MUCH. WE JUST OFFER A SUGGESTION HERE OR THERE TO HELP MAKE YOUR PORTRAIT PHOTOS LOOK THAT EXTRA BIT SPECIAL.
Kid’s do the funniest things! In this gallery we share some of our favourite photographs of children at weddings. This gallery features flower girls, page boys, little babies and lots of cute mini humans! These wedding photographs are taken in churches and many wedding venues around Cheshire, Manchester and the rest of the UK.
We love to photograph the speeches! In this gallery we share some of our favourite wedding speeches photographs. The speeches are a wonderful opportunity to capture the emotions and the laughter of all at the wedding. This is where it really helps to have two photographers. One to focus on the head table whilst the other photographs the guests. We are very keen to not disturb others in the speeches (as we are throughout the wedding day) but work hard to capture the speeches from interesting creative angles. We often take photographs from on our knees making sure not to block the view of guests but really telling the story and capturing the emotion from a great perspective as seen.
Choosing your wedding photographer is one of the biggest decisions you will make when planning your wedding.

Tobiah Tayo Photography are a husband and wife Manchester wedding photographer team. We got married ourselves in May 2011 and we found that this really influenced our approach to wedding photography.
Primarily, we like to tell the wedding story in the best way possible. We like to take documentary, reportage wedding photographs which show your wedding guests being themselves - laughing, hugging, dancing and having a generally brilliant time at your awesome wedding!
We feel its very important to capture every part of the wedding day to a high standard. From the traditional parts of the day to the not so traditional. We offer guidance where needed that will help improve your wedding photographs, but we do not try to control your wedding day.
Whilst we have an approach that has evolved through many years of perfecting our craft, we are not rigid and our aim is to photograph the wedding day to suit our clients. We certainly tailor our approach to each unique wedding and couple.
We are not the kind of wedding photographers who will have you you stand in a line for hours on end whilst we take group photographs however we do take the group photographs you require. We love to take a relaxed approach as you will see in our wedding photography galleries. We also like to create lovely portraits for you to remember your special day by.

First and foremost the day is about your love for each other and celebrating your love with the friends and family that matter most to you. Your wedding, should be your wedding! Nobody elses! The wedding day is not an elaborate photo shoot and we are ever conscious of this important fact.
Each and every wedding is different. Sure there’s usually vows, rings, cake & champagne but there are so many more components to a wedding. That’s why we feel it’s very important for us to get to know you a little better before the wedding day. We love to meet our couples either in person or over facetime/skype and talk about their day and which parts mean the most to them.
When our couples first book, we send out a helpful guide. We created the guide to help brides and grooms in the planning of their wedding. It gives ideas and suggestions that you may not have thought about.
As the wedding day gets closer, we arrange a pre wedding consultation which helps us to get a feel for your wedding plans and gives us the opportunity to talk about your wedding schedule.
A generous schedule for the wedding day can really add to the enjoyment, reduce stress and give you more precious time with friends and family. It also gives us that time to get the extra special photographs you see on our website.
When discussing your schedule we offer helpful suggestions for your consideration. These suggestions are based upon our experience from over 150+ weddings, but they are just that – suggestions. If you have something else in mind we are more than happy to work to your plans!
Before the day we confirm the schedule and request a list of group photographs for us to work to on the day. This helps reduce stress and ensures we don’t miss any important family photographs. The family photographs are an important memory to have but we feel its important to keep these fast and fun to stop the lockjaw setting in and the boredom!
Some couples decide to have a pre wedding photoshoot or engagement session. Pre wedding photography is a great way for us to get to know you better before the wedding day. It helps you to feel comfortable in front of the camera.
We meet up at a great location (the city, the countryside, a beach or your favourite spot) and we spend an hour or two walking, talking and creating great photographs. It’s all about having fun and being relaxed.
We also love to Travel! So whether it be Venice, Paris or your favourite getaway, consider having your pre wedding shoot abroad!
On the wedding day itself we like to introduce ourselves to everyone first before taking any photographs. We let them know that if there is ANYTHING they need that we are here to help - When we say anything, we mean anything!
At previous weddings we have helped in many ways from simple things like taking the bridesmaids bags to wedding venues, to taking best men back to the hotel to get the speech they have forgotten! That really is one of the benefits of having two photographers. Obviously, we are photographers primarily and we don’t want to miss any of the action. But if emergency help is required there is always one of us on hand to carry on taking the photographs and ensure nothing is missed.
Photographically we like to make sure that we capture every part of the day excellently. Some wedding photographers focus on a documentary wedding photography, some focus on a posed portraiture style however we feel its extremely important to capture every part of the wedding day to the highest standard. We are prepared for any occasion - rain or shine.
During the wedding, we are always taking photographs throughout the day. This is what helps us capture the amazing moments – the touch from a father, that excited smile, or those emotional tears. We do not put the camera down when we have “The Shot” as more often than not – a better shot is about to happen straight after!
First and foremost we look for real moments when photographing a wedding. We photograph your friends and family simply being themselves, having an awesome time at your awesome wedding. This is what tells a wedding story, not dramatic portraits. Dramatic and artistic portrait photographs are the icing on the cake and we always find time to create these when we have captured the important and natural photographs.
In the morning we like to arrive before the brides hair and makeup preparations have begun. At this time we photograph the wedding dress, the shoes and any other details that are special to the bride. We search for the most attractive areas to photograph the details and are very mindful not just to choose the easiest area, but the best area.
After photographing the details we photograph the makeup preparations and all the laughter and fun of the getting ready part of the day. Often during this point Tobiah will go to photograph the groom and his ushers getting ready for a short time before the ceremony whilst leaving Laura to capture the ladies preparation. Again this really compliments our story telling approach.
Tobiah will often return to collect Laura, and before leaving for the church or ceremony location we like to get a few quick portraits of the bride looking stunning. After this, we often like to leave the bride to have 10-20 minutes with her family before leaving for the church or ceremony venue. This is a such a special, intimate time to be enjoyed with those close to you.
We like to arrive at the Church/ceremony venue 20 minutes or more before the wedding to capture guests arriving and introduce ourselves to family and the person who will be conducting the wedding ceremony. This gives us the opportunity to assure them of our non obtrusive approach during the ceremony. At this point it's a great chance to photograph the groom looking excited and/or nervous before the ceremony!
We capture the brides arrival and then Tobiah photographs the brides entrance as she walks down the aisle from the front of the ceremony location. Laura captures the entrance from behind. The same is true of the wedding ceremony with Tobiah Photographing from the front with Laura often capturing alternative angles and compositions from the rear of the venue.
During the wedding ceremony we again focus on capturing the emotions. We use a variety of lenses to tell the story – from closeups of the ring exchanges to wide shots of the venue that really help to set the scene.
During the wedding ceremony, we are always very mindful not to disrupt this precious occasion.
After the wedding ceremony we feel that it is VITAL that we do not whisk the bride and groom away for photographs as this is one of the most emotional times of the wedding day, a time to be enjoyed with friends and family. This is when some of our best natural reportage or “documentary wedding photographs” are taken and we like to photograph friends and family congratulating and greeting the bride and groom.
Sometimes if photographing at a church we will take a dramatic portrait photograph of the bride and groom inside the church just before leaving when they have enjoyed speaking with guests. This can be a great chance for the bride and groom to have a memory of where they got married and often creates a stunning photograph with the stained glass window as a backdrop. This often turns out to be one of our couples favourite images from their wedding.
After this if required we arrange a confetti photograph which leads naturally into the bride and groom leaving the church or ceremony venue for the drinks reception.
At the drinks reception we again suggest that time is apportioned for enjoying the day. Enjoy the canape’s and champagne! In this time we take those great reportage or documentary wedding photos.
After some fun, we can then start the group photograph list and get these out of the way quickly. We usually suggest around 10 group photographs so that the bride and groom don’t get too bored but we are flexible on this as per your requirements. We generally take the group photographs first so that the wedding guests can get back to enjoying the party as soon as possible. It also helps to do the group photographs before the guests decide to go for a wander throughout the wedding grounds! – We were never that good at hide and seek!
After the group photographs we usually take the bride and groom for their portrait photographs. We understand that you don’t want to spend hours taking photographs and so we keep it fun and interesting. Also having 2 wedding photographers means that you get twice the photographs in the same time!
We usually suggest around 40 minutes or so for portrait photographs. This will give you time to relax in front of the camera and have beautiful photographs for generations to come.
We like to take relaxed natural portraits and so we don’t like to pose the bride and groom too heavily, but we always enjoy suggesting creative photographs using the surroundings. We do provide direction when needed just to make the photographs look that extra bit special.
We enjoy taking some of the portrait photographs from a distance so the bride and groom can enjoy being alone. We often take some photos as the bride and groom walk off into the distance talking about the day with each other.
Bride and grooms ALWAYS say “I HATE having my photograph taken” and this is absolutely fine with us! We actually get more worried when somebody says “I LOVE having my photograph taken!” because thats not normal, right?!
After the portrait photographs it’s nice to return to your guests and continue enjoying the drinks reception with them whilst we photograph the wedding breakfast room and all its details. People make a wedding, but the details that you worked so hard to put together deserve to be photographed too!
When guests sit down for the wedding breakfast we take some natural photographs of people laughing at their tables, and then photograph the bride and grooms entrance into the room. Once the wedding food starts to come out we then leave the guests so that they don’t feel annoyed by photographs of them eating.
At this point in the day we prepare an iPad slideshow of around 100 photographs we have taken during the day. We give the iPad slideshow to the bride and groom during dessert to watch – which is always a lovely chance to reflect on the day.
At each and every single wedding we have photographed everyone has absolutely loved this slideshow! The slideshow is usually left on the guestbook table in the evening so that guests can see the photographs from the day and maybe even a photo of themselves!
During the wedding breakfast we photograph the wedding rings and also look around the venue for areas that we may be able to set up a dramatic evening photograph if time allows.
During the speeches we like to capture the emotions and the laughter of not just the head table, but also of the wedding guests. This is where it really helps to have two photographers. One of us can focus on the head table whilst the other photographs the guests.
We are very keen to not disturb others in the speeches (as we are throughout the wedding day) but work hard to capture the speeches from interesting creative angles. We often take photographs from on our knees making sure not to block the view of guests but really telling the story from a great and involving perspective.
After the speeches maybe the light and weather is particularly nice, maybe there’s a sublime sunset? Well some couples take the opportunity to have a few more photographs, just for 15 minutes or so. This is when some of the best light can be found. Of course this is optional and only if time permits.
With all of our portrait photographs, we feel it’s very important to keep things moving and fun and so we work very quickly.
And finally it's party time! We enjoy capturing the cutting of the cake, and the first dance. We then brave the dance floor for a photo boogie – You can’t expect to take photographs of people dancing if you are not dancing yourself! This is when we get some of our favourite photographs of the day. Photographs of the guests completely letting their hair down and enjoying the wedding.
When we have lots of great photographs, we love to say goodbye to the key guests of the wedding. We love to thank them for sharing the special day with us and of course thank the bride and groom for giving us the privilege of photographing their wedding..
If you have any questions about our wedding photography or our approach please do feel free to ask.
