What a day! This is the magical wedding of Jonny & Becci at the iconic The Monastery in Manchester. If you can find a more fun-loving, family orientated, hilarious bride then send them our way! Their day was filled with fun, laughter and plenty of those hugs were you think someone may have a broken rib afterwards!
Becci and her bridesmaids, aka Bride Squad according to their matching dressing gowns, were getting ready at her family home in Oldham when we arrived to photograph their wedding story. Jonny had written Becci a heart-felt letter for her to read on the morning of their wedding. It was so beautiful and thoughtful, definitely scoring some Brownie points! After photographing the dress and getting acquainted with everyone, Tobiah left to photograph the groom and his groomsmen. Jonny and the guys all looked awesome in their tuxedos! Once they were all suited and booted, they enjoyed a quick Peroni before leaving for The Monastery.
Laura had stayed with the ladies and captured the morning as it unfolded before it was time to leave for the wedding ceremony.
Becci had kept her bridesmaids in suspense by not sh0wing them her wedding dress before the big day. Gathered around in the living room as Becci’s mum helped her daughter into her dress upstairs, the excitement was building for the bridesmaids! Once Becci was ready, she made her way down the stairs for the grand reveal. Think tears, dropped jaws and lots of gasps for an idea of the girls’ reactions!
The contrast of the monastery and its surroundings is wonderfully unique. Just on the outskirts of Manchester, on a main road in Gorton, you will find The Monastery. The dedicated team that look after the building itself, as well as anyone who walks through its doors, are attentive and all-round lovely people.
When we arrived at The Monastery, Jonny and his groomsmen were greeting the guests and checking their watches as the ceremony time approached. Becci, her dad and bridesmaids were early so decided to go round the block one last time for the guests to be seated in the Great Nave.
Time to mention the hero of the day, Becci’s dad. He was an absolute trooper and was determined to walk his daughter down the aisle. A dream that was put in jeopardy by him dislocating his knee the day before the wedding!!! Spending the day before your only daughter’s wedding in hospital is no father’s idea of fun, poor guy! Yet despite this, he walked Becci down the aisle towards her handsome groom and, as you’ll see in the photos, even stood up to deliver his speech and have a dance! What a legend!
After the ceremony, the guests joined the newlyweds in the gardens for champagne and canapés. The chatter and laughter from the guests bounced off the walls of the Archangel Gardens. The atmosphere was perfect and we loved capturing all of the natural, happy expressions of all who were there.
Before everyone was seated for the wedding breakfast, we took some relaxed wedding photographs with Becci & Jonny’s family and the bridal party.
The unique and captivating grandeur of the Great Nave at The Monastery is so unique and versatile. The ceremony space was now transformed once again by the great team at The Monastery for the wedding breakfast and speeches.
After the guests had enjoyed some wonderful food and heard from Becci’s dad, the groom and his two best men, the guests were free to roam the cloisters or head into the bar in the Welcome Wing.
The evening reception went off with a bang after a quick turnaround in the Great Nave. The awesome Duncan Disorderly band were keeping the dance floor occupied and played some classic tunes! These guys are very talented and we loved hearing them play.
As we said goodbye to the new Mr & Mrs Nadin, we felt so grateful to them for choosing us to be their wedding photographers and couldn’t believe the day was over! Wedding days go so quickly so always make sure you enjoy yourself, just like these two did…
